Leech

"Your poems make no sense!
Bunch of haphazard words.
Some of them crooked;
Are you sure that's the right spelling?"

I used to think I owe you an explanation,
You, who bound me in a straightjacket
And dipped me into a well full of leeches.
It didn't hurt.
Only the numbness sucked away all words.
But I escaped!
You see I have two muscular wings.
I didn't know, they hid inside my vertebrae.
The leeches woke them up.
When they tore my back and came out,
It was the most painful moment of my life.
But so much more preferable than anesthesia.
Now that I am flying,
I will never let you near my bare skin.
Ever again.
